automated mp3 rip from video clip

Post  automatedfaults on Sun Nov 22, 2009 9:48 am

I would like to be able to drag a video clip onto an icon (could be an autoit icon on the desktop) and have a program say, media coder or mplayer or mencoder automatically rip the audio from it and convert it to mp3 and put the file on my desktop.
not much to ask?!

Sounds like an interesting idea. Can you please post a link of where to download MEncoder. I google'd but could not find the link.

please ignore this request now as I have what I need. so ignore the below post i made earlier

http://www.videohelp.com/tools?toolsearch=mencoder&Submit=Search&convert=&s=&orderby=Name&hits=50
on this page is a link to mplayer/mencoder also a link to mediacoder is on same page. I havent used mpayer/mencoder before just media coder but any would be fine by me.

I'm mainly suggesting it for my computer illiterate sister! Telling her all she needs to do is open mediacoder(or other prog) use these settings etc etc would make her run out of the room in panic. However if all she had to do was drag a file onto an icon - she might be able to do that without hyperventilating, possibly. So it would be a good thing for such people.
I try to make a batch file but it didnt work and I have just downloaded yesterday Autoit and Autohotkey (not sure which to learn) but it will be a while before I can do much as i am not very smart, I think I could manage to adjust a basic script though, or at least have a good chance! I just wouldnt know where to start myself. I mean I could probably send a file to a program. however that files name would keep changing according to what video clip it was. I would have not idea how to arrange something like I am suggesting.
